Elavon has teamed up with LS Retail to launch a new payments solution called Elavon powered by FreedomPay. If your business runs its operations on LS Retail software and you want to take omnichannel payments, find out why this new system is for you.

Two heads are better than one, great minds think alike, teamwork makes the dream work. There’s a reason why these platitudes have persisted for so long: they’re all true.

A new partnership between LS Retail and Elavon is further proof of these old adages. We’ve teamed up to enable merchants to accept omnichannel payments via a new solution called Elavon powered by FreedomPay. Businesses that run their operations on LS Retail software can now use this new system as their payment service provider.

Thanks to this collaboration, businesses can take advantage of an all-in-one technology system to consolidate payments across multiple countries – as well as offering exceptional commercial incentives for resellers.

Based in Iceland, LS Retail specialises in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems that help in the running of an entire business. ERPs support automation and processes in supply chain, human resources, procurement, finance, manufacturing, services and more. Payments is just one element of an ERP – and this is where payments experts Elavon comes in.

Dave Slatter, European partner manager at Elavon, explains. “LS Retail produces unified POS [point of sale] and business management software solutions, from front to back,” he says. “These are mainly for industries like retail, restaurants, pharmacies, hotels and fuel stations.

“LS Central is LS Retail’s single, centralised software platform and it combines ecommerce, POS, financials, inventory and more. They’ve been in business for over 30 years, so they really know their stuff. And Elavon knows all about payments, so we’re a great match.”

One contact, one contract, one solution

LS Pay, an add-on to LS Central also developed by LS Retail, connects LS Central to payment gateways, enabling omnichannel payments in the process. Under this partnership, the new solution connects LS Pay (and LS Central, by extension) to the Elavon acquiring system via the world-class FreedomPay gateway, which is now a product resold by Elavon.

“There’s real power behind this solution,” explains Dave. “The customer gets the latest, leading technology, because we’re all experts in our respective fields. But there’s only one point of contact – and that’s Elavon.

“Everything is streamlined: one contract, one contact and one single solution. The customer needs only to deal with Elavon. We take care of everything.”

Elavon powered by FreedomPay is an omnichannel system, facilitating all payment methods so shoppers can pay how they want. Designed for the mid-to-large corporate sector, it’s ideal for all kinds of industries. Its initial focus targets retail and hospitality businesses across Europe, the UK and the US, as it includes features that are critical for these sectors such as Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC).

Partner incentive programme

LS Retail has a network of around 300 resellers around the world. These partners sell LS Retail software to over 7,100 businesses in 157 countries. This partner network stands to make significant gains from the partnership with Elavon, through a commercial incentive programme.

“Elavon is offering a 20% net revenue share of acquiring revenue to LS Retail partners for the duration of the partnership contract,” Dave explains. “Essentially, this means recurring monthly revenues for LS Retail resellers, for as long as they remain a partner with Elavon. The process is easy, too – all they need to do is recommend and refer customers.”

To announce the partnership – and the incentive programme – Elavon was a premium sponsor at conneXion 2024, LS Retail’s conference and expo for retail and hospitality. Held in Reykjavik in May, the event brought together top experts in these industries to highlight the latest software solutions, new ideas and challenging thinking for retail and hospitality.

“conneXion was a fantastic launchpad for us. It was the best way to introduce ourselves to lots of potential customers, all at once,” says Dave. “There were almost 600 attendees, including all of LS Retail’s resellers, as well as representatives of global brands like IKEA.

“As a premium sponsor, our branding was on everything. We presented onstage beside Adyen and Google and were more than able to hold our own with these massive technology players.”

Disrupting the payments market

conneXion was a great opportunity to target resellers across UK and Europe and contract them to become referral partners, but the partnership also brings other benefits to Elavon.

“It gives us access to net new retail and hospitality customers. Plus, it’s a springboard to launch our FreedomPay reseller solution through distribution channels that are already established,” Dave explains. “Elavon will also get revenues from acquiring, DCC and any complementary products.

“Finally, it means customers that sign up are more likely to be ‘sticky’. They’ll stay with Elavon once they’re happily using the multiple products packaged in Elavon powered by FreedomPay.”

Backed by the strength and stability of U.S. Bank, Elavon has been a trusted payments provider for over thirty years. It partners with industries of all sizes and in all sectors in 36 countries. But Dave is relishing the challenge of being the new kid on the block in this instance, the disruptor to the status quo where the main players have long been Adyen, Planet and Worldpay.

“We’re offering the 20% incentive to LS Retail resellers because we mean business,” he states. “With Elavon powered by FreedomPay, we’re providing true omnichannel capability and the consolidation of acquiring across multiple countries. Put simply, we’re combining expertise and experience – all with one point of contact. We believe 100% in our product offering, so we’re really backing ourselves and LS Retail with this commercial model.”
